Food for Autodidactic people
The world of academia has been opened up to the everyman. Indeed, an exciting time to exist. Lectures on subjects a varied as economics to astrophysics, politics and philosopy to the theory of music and get this most of them are in video...... : )
Like Matt Damon in good will hunting said "you probably just dropped 150G's on an education you could have got for a buck 50 in late charges at a public library".
Google "lectures" and "University" for access to some great ideas and perspectives. Opensource education means anyone can participate. They even give you the powerpoints.

I am a high school junior and am not sure about finishing high school. I recently got kicked out of quaker school for general lack of enthusiasm and work I did. I will be facing my 4th school in the past year if I decide to start at my districted public high school. I have wasted money and time. I have acted with carelessness. I feel I want and need to pursue my education far. I am interested in many things. I just feel like I can't see what's ahead of me and what's behind. An autodidatic, open source learning style interests me, but scares me as well. I feel I have all the options in the world.
I just need some help figuring out what they are.

The paradox of choice is something that confronts everyone in a world of infinite possibility. Barry schwarz seem to have a pretty good idea about what it could mean - Check out the link http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/93
I think you'll like the ted talks.
I guess it is a good a place as any to start - but This quote is a pretty nice way to begin
"Know something about everything and everything about something"
I have never been to a quaker school....But I can imagine that its probably quite east to be un-enthused. Time and money are never wasted. They are the wrong choices that in the short term weren't right, and the long term are the only thing you could ever have done.
Embrace uncertainty and go with it.

Learn-to -live,and then live-to-learn!
The things that hurt teach lessons, one's personal difficulties in life bare the fruit of wisdom and knowledge of ones true potental, and as such, emotional and physical suffering is the originator of all empathetic actions. Things that bring comfort, are easily forgoten or taken for greated. The old saying goes , no - news, is good -news, and to learn is to embrace the new, wether it is better, worse or just different from the things I knew the day before. Change is of the most basic of certainties.
(THE BUDDIST IDEAL OF DAY) or just some more superfolus verbosity. the choice is always in the mind of the beholder, beuaty and ugley are a matter of taste!!! To be ones own greatest of teachers onto one self, is to paraphrase buddhas statement
to be a light unto ones self.

Rule #2. If you ask for help you will get confused.
